Why-Not-Chee - Gravel Unravel

  • Satsop Center National Forest Rd 2222 Montesano, WA, 98563 United States (map)

Part of the Gravel Unravel, these races are put on by Peninsula Adventure Sports.

Wynoochee Lake is a hidden gem in Olympic National Park, on Chehalis tribal lands. Built in 1972, Wynoochee Dam aids flood control, irrigation, and water storage. Trails navigate old-growth forests and include a mile of the Maidenhair Falls Trail. This area features deep logging history, with Camp Grisdale, the last company-owned logging camp in the U.S., located nearby. Explore the region, home to the Chehalis people, while surrounded by towering Hemlock, Spruce, Douglas Fir, and Western Red Cedar. All roads are open for non-motorized use year-round, offering numerous routes. Cell reception is limited, with the nearest service nearly 40 minutes away, except on high ridges.
